Welcome to Week 4. While it's a light week for Top 25 teams, the ranked matchups could tell us a lot.
No. 17 Texas Tech and No. 16 Utah opened their Big 12 schedules with a tough defensive showdown that had six turnovers combined before Texas Tech and backup QB Will Hammond put the game away in the fourth quarter. Hammond, playing after starter Behren Morton was hurt, was 13-of-16 for 169 yards and two scores in the 34-10 win.
Elsewhere, TCU downed rival SMU in what is the last Iron Skillet game for the time being, and Memphis upset Arkansas.
In Norman, OU's defense sacked Jackson Arnold 10 times and Sooners QB John Mateer did John Mateer things (300 total yards and two TDs) to beat Auburn 24-17.
The Illinois-Indiana matchup is the only other ranked matchup of the day. This is only the second meeting between these two when both were ranked. While they might not be Big Ten favorites, the winner would be in position for a College Football Playoff at-large bid.
We'll have the best action and moments throughout Saturday.
