Football fans around the world were treated to a true spectacle on Tuesday night, as Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich locked horns in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final tie. Featuring some of the biggest stars in the world, the French and German giants threw caution to the wind and ultimately went blow for blow with one another, resulting in a match that saw no less than nine goals over the course of the 90 minutes. And while the Ligue 1 side can lay claim to a slight advantage, the sheer potency of Bayern’s attack gives them plenty of reasons to be confident as they head into the second leg.
Indeed, Bayern’s front line was in devastating form, as Harry Kane opened the scoring for the Bundesliga giants from the penalty spot just 17 minutes into the match, before Michael Olise bagged a second just before half time. Then, following a goal from Dayot Upamecano, Luíz Diaz then made it four for Bayern in the 68th minute. And along the way the trio reached a remarkable achievement.

Following their goals on Tuesday night, Bayern’s attacking trio have now scored 100 goals between them across all competitons this season. Kane, unsurprisingly, leads the way with 54 goals in 46 games this season followed by Diaz on 26 goals in 46 games for Bayern and then Olise completed the century of goals with 20 of his own in 47 games. And what makes that feat even more impressive is that no other attacking trio in Europe comes close to them.
As we can see in the table above, the next best attacking trio in Europe’s top leagues this season are Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé, Vinicius Jr and Federico Valverde, who can lay claim to 69 goals between them. They’re closely followed by Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, Raphinha and Ferran Torres on 62 goals, then Erling Haaland, Phil Foden and Rayan Cherki claim fourth place with 55 combined goals in all competitions. However, as we can see, aside from the Spanish giants, most of the trios within the top 10 are sitting at around half the number of goals Kane & Co. have bagged this season. In many ways, the Bayern attacking line is in a league of its own this season and are perfectly capable of turning their Champions League tie back in their favour in the second leg.
