Real Madrid 's busy start to the summer has continued after they reached an agreement to sign full-back Marc Cucurella from Chelsea for a €60 million deal. Reports suggest that the agreement comprises of a €55m fixed fee plus €5m in add-ons, with the transfer confirmed by Real Madrid this Monday. In a club statement they said, "Real Madrid C. F. and Chelsea FC have reached an agreement for the transfer of the player Marc Cucurella, who will be linked to our club for the next six seasons, until June 30, 2032." The Spaniard only signed a new Chelsea contract last summer. Multiple other clubs had been in contact with Cucurella’s representatives, including Atlético Madrid, Barcelona’s and Manchester City.

Cucrella has a current market value of €50m. Los Blancos have won the race, continuing their theme of signing Premier League players this summer, with deals for Ibrahima Konaté and Bernardo Silva also expected to be completed. The LaLiga club have also brought back their former manager José Mourinho. Now that Cucurella's transfer is confirmed, where will it rank him among the all-time most expensive full-backs?

Cucurella joins most expensive full-backs

When we rank the most expensive full-backs of all time, Moroccan Achraf Hakimi comes out on top, having moved from Inter Milan to Paris Saint-Germain for €68m. Cucurella then takes second... but not for this summer's upcoming move. The Spaniard signed for Chelsea from Brighton for €65m back in 2022. João Cancelo swapped Juventus for Man City for €65m and takes third spot. Cucurella then returns again in fourth with this summer's €60m move to Real Madrid. The deal will also mean that no other full-back has ever accumulated higher transfer fees across their careers than the Spaniard.

The likes of Ben White (fourth with €59m fee), Aaron Wan-Bissaka (seventh with €55m fee) and Kyle Walker (eighth with €53m fee) all feature in the top 10. Cucurella's focus right now will be on the World Cup with Spain, with his nation kicking off their tournament against Cape Verde this Monday. But moving to arguably the biggest club in world football will be hard to completely not think about for the 27 year old.
