Transfermarkt’s market values began over 20 years ago and they’ve gained notoriety all over the globe. They are regularly cited by major clubs, elite footballers and leading media organisations from every continent. Every major league receives four updates a season with players’ valuations adjusted based on numerous factors.
The biggest league in the world unquestionably remains the English Premier League with billions of supporters tuning in every weekend. The English top-flight is the most valuable on the planet with a total market value of €12.78b. Moreover, the Premier League boasts six of the ten most valuable clubs in the world, which consolidates its billing as the richest league. But which player has been the most valuable in history at all 20 current Premier League clubs? Let’s find out.
Every Premier League club’s most valuable player in history
Erling Haaland is the most valuable player in Premier League history at €200 million. The Manchester City superstar was upgraded to his record valuation in October 2024 but he dropped to his current market value of €180m in May 2025. Four Premier League clubs have players with a record market value of €150m; Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal. As the graphic below illustrates, we’ve ranked the players - Eden Hazard, Harry Kane, Mohamed Salah and Bukayo Saka - historically, due to inflation.
Newcastle United and Manchester United are the two other clubs with players valued at the €100m threshold or higher in history - Alexander Isak for the Magpies and Paul Pogba for the Old Trafford side. Many other clubs had players reach their record market values just before they completed big transfers like Declan Rice, Moisés Caicedo, Douglas Luiz, Matheus Cunha, Dean Huijsen and Bryan Mbeumo. Burnley have the least valuable record player with James Tarkowski reaching €28m in 2020.
