It's transfer window may be closed in Europe's top leagues, but the rumours continue to circulate as clubs plan out future moves. Teams are working tirelessly behind the scenes on identifying targets and figuring out their budgets.
Managers will be constantly assessing their squads with sporting directors and recruitment staff scanning the market for potential deals. The rumour mill is still gathering pace and we've collated some of the biggest current transfer stories.
Today's biggest transfer stories
Chelsea have reportedly joined the race to sign highly-rated AZ Alkmaar teenager Kees Smit. The 19-year-old has also attracted interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid, however, and the LaLiga giants may have a slight advantage. Smit told De Telegraaf in September: "I read I was on the radar of Real Madrid and Barcelona. That made me proud."
Juventus and AS Roma are still monitoring Kobbie Mainoo ahead of a potential loan move in January. The England international saw a move away from Manchester United blocked in the summer transfer window. However, he is yet to start a game under Rúben Amorim this season and the Italian pair are keeping a close eye on his situation.
Marc Guéhi has reportedly informed his advisors to pursue a move to Real Madrid following the deadline-day collapse of his switch to Liverpool. The Crystal Palace captain is poised to leave as a free agent in June 2026, but the 25-year-old apparently now prefers a move to Spain over Anfield.
