Under pressure boss

If Liam Rosenior’s appointment as Chelsea manager split opinion amongst supporters then the scales have certainly tipped towards disillusionment across recent weeks. The Blues’ form has nosedived with six loses in their last seven games and their only win in that sequence was against League 1 Port Vale. Moreover, Chelsea have failed to score in five of their last six games and their Champions League qualification hopes realistically ended with defeat to Manchester United on Saturday. The Blues trail fifth place Liverpool by seven points with just five games remaining and defeat to Brighton tonight could even put any European qualification in serious jeopardy.
Ahead of the United game, Chelsea co-owner Behdad Edhbali provided Rosenior the dreaded vote of confidence but his wording hardly provided the Englishman significant reassurance. “We had the opportunity to work with him daily for 18 plus months, so we knew what we were getting,” said Edhbali. “We think he has every attribute to be successful here. He got off to a great start. We’ve had a tough past five, six matches, but I think we’re behind Liam. Of course, it’s a successful business, but we think he can be successful long term.” Chelsea supporters have repeatedly protested against their ownership structure recently and disharmony is growing in West London with Rosenior increasingly unlikely to be in charge next season.
Liam Rosenior’s Premier League record compared to Chelsea managers
We’ve analysed Transfermarkt's vast database to calculate every Chelsea manager’s points per game record in the Premier League since 2000 - we’ve excluded Gianluca Vialli as his spell spanned across two centuries. Worryingly for Rosenior, the 41-year-old’s record is the second worst of the 17 permanent managers that Chelsea have installed this century.
His record of 1.42 ppg from his 12 games in charge is only marginally superior to Graham Potter (1.27). With only one win in his last eight Premier League games, defeat to in-form Brighton tonight would intensify the pressure on Rosenior. Chelsea have won five Premier League titles since 2000 under three managers, José Mourinho, Antonio Conte and Carlo Ancelotti. But interestingly the legendary trio are eclipsed in the ppg ranking by Avram Grant. The Israeli boss boasted a 2.32 ppg record across his 32 games in charge at Stamford Bridge.
