After the Major League Soccer update earlier this month, Transfermarkt has now also updated the other major league in Concacaf. Overall, 116 players playing in Liga MX have seen their market values change. One of the big winners of the upgrade is US men’s national team striker Álex Zendejas. Thanks to his upgrade from €8 million to €9m and Tigres UANL' Ángel Correa dropping from €10m to €9m, Zendejas is now the joint most valuable player in Liga MX.

All new market values at a glance

“Alex Zendejas has quietly established himself as one of the most consistent performers in Mexican football,” Area Manager Mexico Osvaldo González Camacho said. “A central figure in Club América’s historic three-peat, he has amassed nearly 50 goal contributions over the last two seasons (13 assists and 12 goals in 2024/25, followed by 14 goals and 9 assists the year before). Even in the current Apertura, where his form has been less explosive, Zendejas has remained productive with 2 goals and 2 assists in nine league appearances. His reliability has once again earned him a place in the US men’s national team, a squad in urgent need of attacking depth.”

The former FC Dallas product isn’t the only player with an MLS past to make headlines in this market value update. Former LA Galaxy talent Éfrain Álvarez joined powerhouse Chivas from Club Tijuana this summer in a deal worth $7m (€6.85m). As a result, this market value has been upgraded from €5.5m to €6.5m. Since joining his new club, Álvarez has scored two goals and two assists in 12 games across all competitions. Although he doesn’t have impressive scoring numbers, Álvarez's ability to play several positions makes him a valuable commodity.

Liga MX market value update – Sergio Ramos sets another negative record

Among the big losers of the market value update was former Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos from CF Monterrey. The 39-year-old saw his market value drop from €1.2m to now €1m. The defender received a starting market value of €7m when he first broke onto the scene with Sevilla as an 18-year-old 21 years ago. As a result, every drop of market value at this stage of his career is a new negative record. Ramos isn’t the only Monterrey star with a drop in market value. Lucas Ocampos also saw his market value drop, going down by 8.3% from €6m to €5.5m.

How Transfermarkt market values work

The Transfermarkt market values are calculated, taking into account various pricing models. A major factor is the Transfermarkt community, whose members discuss and evaluate player market values in detail. In general, the Transfermarkt market values are not to be equated with transfer fees.

The goal is not to predict a price but an expected value of a player in a free market. Both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant in determining market values. Examples of this are listed below. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (you can find the detailed market value definition here).
