Liverpool and Manchester United’s rivalry is unquestionably the biggest in English football and the two giants will meet for the 207th time this weekend. Although they don’t belong to the same city, Liverpool and Man United are the most successful clubs in England and they are tied on 20 top-flight titles. In recent years, Liverpool have firmly been in the ascendancy and the reigning Premier League champions are overwhelming favourites at home on Sunday.

The Merseyside club enter the fixture on the back of three consecutive defeats - for the first time under Arne Slot - but facing United is the perfect fixture to bounce back. United have won just once in their last 14 league games against Liverpool and their record at Anfield is horrendous. On Friday, Transfermarkt released the Premier League market value update and we’ve analysed the most valuable Liverpool and Manchester United combined XI.

Unsurprisingly, Liverpool dominated the combined XI with eight players, compared to United’s three with a total value of €828m. Alexander Isak surged to the joint-second most valuable player in the Premier League after the update. The Swedish striker was upgraded by €20m to €140m to reflect the British transfer record fee that Liverpool paid for him. Isak is flanked by Man United duo Bryan Mbeumo and Mathues Cunha in attack with both valued at €70m.

As the graphic above illustrates, three Liverpool players form the midfield trio with a combined value of €320m. Florian Wirtz has endured a difficult start to his Liverpool career but his valuation only dropped by €10m in the update. Leny Yoro is the only Man United player in the back four, forming a centre-back partnership with his fellow Frenchman Ibrahima Konaté.
