The summer transfer window is beginning to heat up, and Premier League clubs are once again splashing the cash. Manchester City will pay €135 million for midfielder Elliot Anderson, whilst Tottenham have spent a combined €207m on Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes. It has become a very consistent theme for Premier League clubs to outspend all other leagues in recent years, but which teams are getting the best returns for their money? And the worst.
It's time to find out. Here at Transfermarkt, we have calculated the total spending on transfers per Premier League points won since the start of 2020 for each team. We have only included teams that have taken 200 or more points in that six-year period. The transfer spending figures are as of July 7, 2026.
Which Premier League teams have spent most per point won?
Leading the way with the unwanted tag of the highest transfer spend per point is, to no great surprise, Chelsea. The Blues have spent a mouth-watering €2.18 billion on transfers since the turn of the decade. In that period, they have taken 400 Premier League points, which equates to a cost of €5.45m per point won - placing the West London club well ahead of any other side. In second is Tottenham with €3.86m spent per point won. Spurs have spent €1.42b since 2020, but have found themselves finishing 17th in back-to-back seasons and have take just 367 points. Manchester United are third having with €3.04m per point spent - the Red Devils have spent €1.26b and taken 415 points this decade.

Bournemouth are fourth with €2.71m spent per point won, with recently-relegated West Ham fifth with €2.71m. Manchester City, who have won four Premier League titles in the said period and taken 568 points, are sixth with €2.62m spent per point won. Newcastle (€2.60m) and Wolves (€2.53m) are seventh and eighth respectively. Premier League champions Arsenal (€2.28m) are ninth with the previous season's league winners, Liverpool (€2.25m) completing the top 10. At the better end of the scale, Crystal Palace (€1.56m) and Brentford (€1.57m) have the lowest spend per Premier League point won this decade.
