Prabowo Discusses Sending Peacekeeping Troops to Gaza with the Indonesian National Army

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Prabowo Subianto visited the Headquarters of the Indonesian National Army (Mabes TNI), Cilangkap, East Jakarta, Tuesday (25/11/2025). Prabowo's arrival was welcomed by Menhan Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Army Commander General Agus Subiyanto, Deputy Commander Army General Tandyo Budi Revita, KSAU Marshal Mohamad Tonny Harjono, KSAD Deputy Lieutenant General Muhammad Saleh Mustafa, and KSAL Deputy Laksdya Erwin S Aldedharma.

“The President held an online meeting, accompanied by the Minister of Defense and the Commander-in-Chief of the Indonesian National Army, in order to give instructions on strengthening the development of troops to maintain national stability,” the Presidential Media Team quoted Republika.co.id in Jakarta as saying,

Through press reports with Menhan Sjafrie and General Agus, Indonesia has formed as many as 150 Territorial Battalions of Pembagunan (Yon TP) this year. The amount will continue to be increased annually until it reaches 750 Yon TP by the end of 2029.

“These battalions will be tasked with maintaining the integrity of the region, protecting national interests, and securing strategic industries related to state sovereignty,” the President's Media Team explained.

During the meeting, President Prabowo also discussed plans to send 20,000 army soldiers to Gaza, Palestine. The soldier will exercise a United Nations (UN) mandate to support the rehabilitation of Gaza's settlements.

“Indonesia has also implemented the formation of a contingent of peacekeeping forces under the United Nations, which will be tasked with fighting for humanitarian aid and supporting recovery efforts in post-conflict areas,” the President's Media Team said.
