The 2025/26 summer transfer window was one for the ages. A record €10.23 billion was spent worldwide, with €3.59b spent by Premier League clubs alone. Alexander Isak broke the division's record transfer on deadline day, finally sealing his €145 million move from Newcastle to Liverpool. And there was plenty of other drama elsewhere. Across the course of the summer, many records toppled, with unprecedented money changing hands. Among the 20 Premier League clubs, nine of them have already broken their record transfer spend in an entire season. So who are those sides? And what are the record spends for the other 11 clubs? Let's find out.

Each Premier League club's record spends in a single season

We will go in alphabetical order. Arsenal spent a grand total of €294m across the course of the summer on new arrivals - the most expensive of which being the €70m acquisition of midfielder Martín Zubimendi. That has already broke their record spend in a season, whilst the Gunners also posted the highest net spend in the world this summer. Aston Villa spent just €30m this summer, restricted by the Premier League's PSR rules, but their record spend came last season (2024/25) where the Villains forked out €214m. Bournemouth broke their record this summer having spent €138m, but also had the lowest net spend in the entire division after numerous high-profile sales.

Brentford also broke their transfer spend in a single season this summer, having spent €99m. Brighton's record came last term, with the Seagulls splashing out €282m in the 2024/25 campaign. Newly-promoted Burnley broke their record this summer, spending a total of €129m. Chelsea, perhaps unsurprisingly have spent the most of any club in a single season, laying out a mind-boggling €630m in the 2022/23 campaign. Crystal Palace's record spend came all the way back in the 2016/17 season where the Eagles spent €101m. Everton's most lucrative season on transfers came in the 2017/18 term with a spend of €203m. Fulham's record spend came in the 2018/19 season where the Cottagers spent €116m.

Leeds spent €164m in the 2022/23 season which still stands as their record. Liverpool not only broke their club record spend in a single season, forking out €483m, including breaking the Premier League's transfer record twice, but also spent the most any club has in a single transfer window. Manchester City spent €318m in the 2017/18 season. Their rivals Manchester United spent €251m this summer which equates to the most the Red Devils have ever spent in a single season. Newcastle also broke their record season spend this summer, splashing out €289m. Nottingham Forest spent €237m this summer, also breaking their club record spend in a season.

Newly-promoted Sunderland spent the most of any club promoted to the Premier League in the history of the division, and predictably also broke their club record spend in a single season, spending €188m. Tottenham's record spend came in the 2023/24 campaign where Spurs spent €272m. West Ham's most expensive season came in 2022/23 where the Hammers splashed out €197m. Completing the the 20 teams are Wolves who spent €180m in the 2022/23 campaign.
