Kenan Yıldız now in top 3 - Christian Pulisic returns to personal best

After last week’s LaLiga update, Italy’s Serie A becomes the second of the top five leagues to receive an intermediary market value update. In total, 156 players competing in Italy’s first division received new market values. While Inter Milan’s Nicolò Barella (-€10m to €65m) is no longer part of the top trio, Juventus star Kenan Yıldız saw a major increase that now includes him among a group of players in the top three. More on that later. Also down in market value is Inter star striker Lautaro Martínez. Despite going down by €10 million from €95m to €85m the Argentine remains the most valuable player in Italy.

All new market values at a glance

“He remains the best and most valuable player in Serie A, but his status has clearly declined in recent months,” Area Manager Italy Jatin Dietl said. “Combined with his age and the current trend of favoring more physically dominant strikers, this has led to a downgrade in his market value. Nevertheless, Lautaro’s qualities are undeniable: intelligent movement, clinical finishing, and leadership on the pitch make him a decisive figure for Inter. He continues to be one of the league’s most consistent forwards, but the shift in market dynamics and stylistic preferences has reduced his possibility to maintain the very highest market values going forward.”

While Martínez dropped, Juve’s Yıldız continues to be one of the most exciting players in Europe. “He has made another big step forward in his development over the past few months, shining at the Club World Cup and starting the season strongly,” Dietl said. “At just 20 years old, he is already the key player at Juventus. His greatest strengths are his excellent technique, creativity in the final third, and remarkable maturity on the ball, combined with the confidence to take responsibility in decisive moments.” With all that in mind, Yıldız's market value increase of 50% from €50m to €75m is not only logical but well-earned and places him well within the top three of players with the highest market value in Serie A.

Serie A: Pulisic returns to personal best – Manu Koné continues to shine

At AC Milan, US men’s national team player Christian Pulisic continues to shine. “Since moving to Serie A, he has been the player with the most goal contributions,” Dietl said. “While his age and injury-prone past limit his possibility to reach very high market values, he has consistently been one of the league’s top performers for years. Beyond the numbers, Pulisic stands out for his speed, creativity, and versatility across the attacking line. He can change a game with individual brilliance, whether through sharp dribbling, incisive passing, or a clinical finish. He is a key figure for Milan and one of Serie A’s most reliable attacking forces.” As a result, Pulisic has seen his market value increase by €10m, from €50m to €60m—a personal best not seen since October 2020, when he was still playing for Chelsea.

Another player, who continues to shine, is Roma’s Manu Koné. “Manu Koné is one of the most exciting players in the league,” Dietl said. “With his qualities, he played a key role in making Roma one of the best teams in the league in 2025. His strengths lie in his ball-winning ability, dynamism, and composure under pressure, as well as his ability to drive the game forward from midfield. Inter tried to sign him in the summer, but after protests from the coach and fans, Roma rejected the strong offer—even though they needed the income for Financial Fair Play reasons. However, they likely know that after another season like this, his market value will rise significantly again.” As part of the update, Koné’s market value rose by 25% from €40m to €50m.

Meanwhile, up north on the Swiss border, Argentine midfielder Nico Paz continues to impress for Como. “He has everything a top star needs: physicality, technique, game intelligence, and versatility,” Dietl said. “Already far too good for Como, his future will soon lie with Real Madrid – and it’s hard to imagine the club letting him go again after that. Inter attempted to sign him last summer, but there was no chance. I don’t think he can stay in Serie A for much longer.” Paz’s market value increased by €20m from €35m to now €55m.

Serie A market values: Ups and downs at Atalanta

In Bergamo, Atalanta had both winners and losers. One player on the up is Honest Ahanor. “Many were surprised when Atalanta paid over €20 million, including bonuses to Genoa for Honest Ahanor last summer, but the young defender impressed everyone in his first games for Bergamo,” Dietl said. “His market value will likely soon rise above that high transfer fee. A risky but, once again, clever investment by the Nerazzurri. When he finally receives his Italian passport at 18, it seems that Gattuso already has his eye on him.” Still only 17, Ahanor saw his market value increase by 300% from €5m to €20m.

While Ahanor is up by €11m, Atalanta's Ademola Lookman dropped by €20m from €60m to €40m. “He put himself on the market in the summer, but apart from a €45m offer from Inter, there was little real interest,” Dietl said. “By refusing to train with Atalanta, he sidelined himself and further weakened his market value. He remains a strong player, but his market does not seem very large, and this summer may have scared off some potential suitors.”

How Transfermarkt market values work

The Transfermarkt market values are calculated, taking into account various pricing models. A major factor is the Transfermarkt community, whose members discuss and evaluate player market values in detail. In general, the Transfermarkt market values are not to be equated with transfer fees.

The goal is not to predict a price but an expected value of a player in a free market. Both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant in determining market values. Examples of this are listed below. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (you can find the detailed market value definition here).
