Where do the six liveable continents rank in terms of total market value from all players?

Football is a game that spans the globe, and nobody quite encapsulates that like Transfermarkt. Today, it is a website with the world’s most extensive football database, with over six million users, and 27 successful international domains from the the United States to Indonesia. Players from all of the six liveable continents (we will conquer Antartica one day) have been given Transfermarkt market values.



TM's market values are world renowned, and compress the work of thousands of worldwide staff and volunteers. But from the companies vast database of player values, where does each continent rank in terms of overall market value from all the players from it's nations? We have calculated the total market value of the six continents. It will be no surprise to see Europe top of the list, but where do the others rank?



The most valuable continents in football


Europe leads the way and has as many as 42,151 footballers with a market value, Between all of those players, the continent boasts a total market value of a whopping €39.27 billion. The most valuable of which is Barcelona and Spain's Lamine Yamal who is the world's most valuable player at €200 million. In second place is the continent of South America. Famous for producing players with flair and trickery, there are currently 12,111 South Americans with a market value, combining for a total figure of €11.46b. The most valuable of which is Brazil's Vinicius Junior at €170m.



In third place is Africa, with 8,819 players combining for a total market value of €6.41b. The most valuable African player right now is Morocco's Achraf Hakimi at €80m. Asia takes fourth position, with 12,999 players accumulating a combined market value of €2.68b. Japanese winger Kaoru Mitoma and South Korea defender Min-jae Kim are the most valuable, each worth €40m. The continent of North America is down in fifth position with 4,253 footballers totalling €2.46b in market value. Canadian Alphonso Davies and American Christian Pulisic lead the way - both worth €50m. Australia/Oceania complete the list, with 1,382 players combining for a total market value of €246m - New Zealand's Chris Wood (€10m) is the most valuable.
