Few clubs in the Premier League needed a big rebuild in the summer off-season more so than Tottenham Hotspur. The North London club finished last season’s league campaign in 17th place - their worst finish in Premier League history. As a result, manager Ange Postecoglou was duly sacked and replaced by Brentford boss Thomas Frank. And so far things seem to be working out pretty well.

Alongside spending a hefty sum or €210.6 million on new players in the summer transfer window, Frank has guided his new-look Spurs side to four wins, two draws and just one defeat in their first seven league games of the season. Such form now has Tottenham sitting comfortable in third place in the league table and daring to dream of returning to European football in May. And if that wasn’t enough good news to excite fans of the club, Transfermarkt’s recent market value update of the Premier League also saw a number of Frank’s biggest stars get an increase in market value too.

Tottenham: Market value analysis

Indeed, in total Tottenham’s overall squad market value rose by €29.5 million to an impressive €430 million (fifth highest in the Premier League) due to the fact that the vast majority of the 12 players that saw their individual market values change got an increase. As we can see in the table below, the biggest winners from Frank’s squad were new signing Mohammed Kudus and in-form full-back Djed Spence, whose market values both rose by €10m to €55m and €30m respectively. Following them were three players that all saw their market values rise by €5m: defensive pairing Christian Romero and Micky van de Ven (both now up to €55m) and Brazilian striker Richarlison (up to €25m). Elsewhere, squad players Pape Matar Sarr, Pedro Porro and Lucas Bergvall all saw their market values increase marginally, alongside new signing Kota Takai, whose market value rose by €2.5m to reflect his transfer fee.

However, it wasn’t all good news for Frank’s squad. Young talent Archie Gray saw his market value fall by €3m to €35m due to his lack of game time in Tottenham’s first team this season, while Yves Bissouma saw his market value drop by €5m to €20m for similar factors. But the player that lost the most market value in Tottenham’s squad was none other than James Maddison, whose market value dropped by €7m to €35m due to poor form and persistent injuries. Which now means the English playmaker’s market value is exactly half what it was this time last year.
