The nominees for The Best FIFA Football Awards have been released for 2025 with 11 players vying to win the Men’s award. Football’s governing body has put the award to the public vote, allowing supporters from the worldwide footballing community to select their top three. The gongs reflect the best player in the world from last season and the dates are from August 11, 2024 and August 2, 2025.
Last year, Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior won the main award with Rodri in second place and Jude Bellingham third. That was in reverse to the Ballon d’Or, which was famously won by Manchester City’s Rodri with Vini Jr snubbing the award ceremony after winning. There’s various awards up for grabs including the Women’s player of the year, best coach and categories for each position. But we’ve compiled a list of the 11 nominees for the Men’s award and you can cast your vote here!
The Best FIFA Football Awards: Men’s nominees
Unsurprisingly, four PSG players are nominated for the award with Ousmane Dembélé amongst the favourites after being crowned the Balon d’Or winner in September. Vitinha, Nuno Mendes and Acraf Hakimi are the other three PSG nominees, which reflects the French giants winning the Champions League. Three Barcelona stars are in contention to win the award with Lamine Yamal the most valuable player nominated, as the graphic below illustrates.
Yamal’s father was very unspoken after Dembélé won the Ballon d’Or claiming ‘something very strange’ had occurred and they will battle again for the FIFA gong. Only two Premier League players are nominated, Cole Palmer and Mohamed Salah. Palmer led Chelsea to glory in the Club World Cup while Salah inspired Liverpool to the Premier League title. Kylian Mbappé and Bayern Munich's Harry Kane are both nominated as recognition for their incredible goalscoring.
