Bayern Munich are in advanced negotiations to sign Harry Kane to a new contract. Director of sport Max Eberl confirmed the talks to German TV station Sky. “We are in talks with Harry,” Eberl said. According to a Sky report, confirmed by Transfermarkt, the 32-year-old is set to renew his contract, which was due to expire in 2027, by two years. Kane is very much settled in Munich and isn’t considering leaving the club.
Kane, who has scored 34 goals and four assists in 30 games for Bayern Munich, was linked with a move to Barcelona over the last few months. The LaLiga giants are looking for a replacement for Robert Lewandowski. The 37-year-old Polish forward is set to leave Barça when his contract expires at the end of the season. Kane has an exit clause for the summer worth €65m, which must be triggered by the end of January. Reports in Germany have indicated that Kane will not trigger that option.
“We have one and a half years left on the current deal, and he is playing at a high level,” Bayern president Herbert Hainer said. “I am convinced that he likes it in Munich and that he is very happy. We will have talks. I assume he will make it dependent on his future plans. But I am of the full conviction that Bayern have a very good chance [to keep him.”
