REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SOLOK - Heavy rains that have flooded Solok City, West Sumatra Province, since Wednesday (26/11) caused an increase in water discharge from Batang Lembang and Batang Gawan rivers. Flooding of shipments from neighboring areas aggravated the conditions, so that a number of settlements of residents in two affected districts were flooded, posing a risk to life safety and damage to material.
Head of BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center, Abdul Muhari, explained that floods hit Tanjung Harapan District (Koto Panjang and Nan Balimo Kelurahan) as well as Lubuk Sikarah Subdistrict (Kampai Tabu Karambia Kelurahan, IX Korong, Aro IV Korong, Sinapa Piliang, VI Suku, and Tanah Garam). “Based on provisional data, 598 heads of families or 3,362 people were affected, with 224 units of homes affected,” he said.
Current conditions of water discharge are still increasing and overflowing into residents' settlements. The Solok City BPBD team is still evacuating to safety, and 11 people have been evacuated.
Since the heavy rains, Solok City BPBD has been monitoring flood-prone locations, coordinating with the relevant OPD and village authorities, as well as conducting assessment and reporting of affected victims.
The Mayor of Solok has established the Emergency Response Status for Flood Disasters through Decree Number 100.3.3.3-2212-2025, valid from November 26 to November 27, 2025. Urgent needs for affected residents include groceries, ready meals, velbeds, blankets, pillows, jackets, family kits, hygiene kits, evacuation tents, water suction machines, and evacuation boats.
BNPB appealed to residents in flood-prone areas to be asked to remain calm, alert. Following the direction of officers on the ground. Avoid activities around rivers or streams of rising water.
