Erling Haaland's phenomenal start to the Premier League season showed no signs of slowing down after he grabbed another two goals for Manchester City on Saturday. The Norwegian striker took his tally to 11 goals in just eight games in 2025/26, inspiring his team to a 2-0 victory over Everton at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday. The 25-year-old was tasked with finding the goals after a stalemate in the first half and cut a frustrated figure. But with his first real opportunity of the game, he took his chances superbly with a towering header on 58 minutes and a sweeping finish five minutes later.

It means Haaland has now scored 11 out of City's 17 in the current campaign, equating to 64.7 per cent - the highest percentage of any player in the top flight. If the quality of his goals and lethal finishing do not underline his value, the undeniable aforementioned statistic certainly does. Newcastle's record signing Nick Woltemade is second on the list with four goals in seven matches since his €75 million move from Stuttgart, with Jarrod Bowen completing the top three after scoring half of West Ham's six goals this season.

Burnley's Jaidon Anthony and Brentford target man Igor Thiago are tied on four goals apiece, equating to a 44.4 per cent share of the goals. Antoine Semenyo, second to Haaland in the goalscoring standings, has scored six of Bournemouth's 14 goals. Jean-Philippe Mateta - a hat-trick hero in the 3-3 draw with Bournemouth - is ranked seventh. Chris Wood, Danny Welbeck and Wilson Isidor make up the rest of the top 10. But it is fair to say none of them hold a candle to Haaland, who is widely recognised as the most in-form striker in the world.

The only team who have proved to be successful in stifling the 25-year-old are Tottenham, who bagged an impressive 2-0 win back in August. Since then, Haaland has been in incredible form, netting 18 goals in his last eight matches for club and country (10 for City, eight for Norway). Incredibly, he notched five goals and two assists in an 11-1 victory over Moldova for his nation. And his club form has been just as impressive against tougher opposition, with Haaland now five goals clear of his nearest Golden Boot challenger Semenyo, who has six so far in 25/26.

Haaland is notorious for starting league campaigns with electric performances in front of goal before eventually dropping off later in the season. But with the clinical frontman regularly finding the back of the net, there will be inevitable questions being asked as to whether City can provide a genuine challenge for their ninth Premier League title. With the best striker in the league by some distance, Pep Guardiola will be increasingly confident of their chances.
