It was a special night for Kylian Mbappé against Marseille as he netted a brace to secure a 2-1 win for Real Madrid in their Champions League opener. Mbappe’s second goal brought up a special landmark as he reached 50 goals in the famous white shirt. The 26-year-old’s move to Madrid from PSG in 2024 was one of the most protracted deals in history with the French international joining on a free transfer.
Last season was hugely disappointing for Madrid as they failed to win a major trophy with Barcelona dominating in Spain, winning LaLiga and the Copa del Rey. But Mbappe still posted impressive attacking numbers in his debut campaign with 44 goals in 59 games. The striker has made a blistering start to the season under Xabi Alonso, with six goals in five games to reach the 50 game landmark. Some legendary attackers have represented Los Blancos across history and Mbappe is just the 9th quickest player to reach 50 goals. Fernando Sañudo is the fastest player to reach 50 goals for Madrid, managing it in just 47 games. Sanudo’s time at Madrid ended as he was required for military service during the Spanish Civil War but he famously scored four goals in their record 8-2 win over Barcelona in 1935.
Gaspar Rubio ranks second with Cristiano Ronaldo in third place. The iconic Portuguese attacker needed 54 games to reach the milestone after his €94 million move from Manchester United in 2009. Alongside Ronaldo, Alfredo Di Stefano is widely regarded as Madrid’s best ever player and he ranks fourth. Some famous players narrowly missed out on the top ten list with legendary Brazilian striker Ronaldo in 11th, K arim Benzema 23rd and Raúl in 27th.
