New Market Values

Kaio Jorge is the star of Transfermarkt's latest Brazilian Championship market value update. As the competition's top scorer with 15 goals and five assists in 21 matches, Cruzeiro's No.9 was called up to the Brazilian national team, which in turn saw his market value rise by €10 million to a new high of €17 million.
Besides Kaio Jorge, other big names in the Brasileirão received significant upgrades in market value. Examples include Vasco's Rayan, and Fluminense's Martinelli and Hércules. The market value update also introduces the first market values of some athletes who were recently promoted to the professional team, such as Corinthians striker Gui Negão, who makes his debut on Transfermarkt with a market value of €5m. On the other hand, there are also considerable drops in market value to also consider. Flamengo saw a drop in the values of Nicolas De La Cruz, Michael, Matias Viña, and Pedro. Still lacking a significant run of games and out of the Brazilian national team, Neymar's value also dropped.
Kaio Jorge arrives in the Brazilian championship
Kaio Jorge's performances have caught the attention of Carlo Ancelotti, the Brazilian national team coach and the Cruzeiro centre forward is one of the Brasileirão's standout performers. The 23-year-old talent was sold by Santos in 2021 for €7m to Juventus, but suffered a serious injury that sidelined him for a year. After three years in European football, he returned to Brazil in July 2024, but it was this year that he truly established himself as one of the country's greats.
"Kaio Jorge has delivered everything expected of him when he emerged at Santos and moved to Juventus in Italy,” said Marcos Watts, Transfermarkt's Area Manager for Brazil. “Injuries in Europe hampered his development, but he has now recovered and shown his full potential. He's fast, versatile, and very effective in front of goal. His call-up to the Brazilian national team is well deserved. That's why he's been highly valued in the Brasileirão.”
Even with a €10m market value increase, Kaio Jorge isn't the highest-valued player in the country. First place goes to Botafogo's Danilo, valued at €28m. The midfielder previously played for Nottingham Forest in England and was signed by the Rio de Janeiro club in July. The most valuable players in the Brasileirão haven't changed their values. Corinthians' Yuri Alberto and Flamengo's Samuel Lino remain valued at €22m. Palmeiras' Vitor Roque is fourth, estimated at €20m.
Neymar joins list of top stars falling in value
Neymar's value has been reduced by €1m, and he's now valued at €11m. Since returning to Brazilian football earlier this year, the star has struggled with injuries and has been quite inconsistent on the pitch. So far, he's played 20 matches, scoring six goals and providing three assists. Out of the Brazilian National Team due to a “technical decision” in the words of Ancelotti, Neymar runs the risk of not playing in the World Cup and will have to show huge improvements in the coming months to have a place in the Brazilian National Team.
"Neymar is still an unknown quantity in Brazilian football,” said Watts. “Despite all his potential, the signs of aging are becoming increasingly clear and have hindered his chances of achieving significant success. The low quality of his teammates weighs against the star. Santos is experiencing a serious management crisis, and this is impacting Neymar's performance. The question remains whether he would perform better in a better-structured team with better players. Neymar's inconsistency puts his participation in the 2026 World Cup in doubt.”
Two Flamengo standouts have seen their market values plummet. Pedro and De La Cruz, the targets of recent controversy and fluctuations in the starting lineup, were the players whose market value dropped the most. After 23 games this season, De La Cruz's fitness was criticized by José Luiz Runco, the club's doctor who was fired after the controversial remarks. An example of the Uruguayan's lack of prestige was his failure to be called up to Marcelo Bielsa's national team.
Pedro has already been criticized by coach Filipe Luis, who asked for more commitment from the player. Flamengo even sought interested parties for the centre forward in June, but the prices fell short of expectations. After the controversy, the player has shown improvement on the field, but due to all the issues, he is being devalued by €2m. Pedro's new market value is €20m, the fifth-highest in the Brasileirão.
How Transfermarkt market values work
The Transfermarkt market values are calculated, taking into account various pricing models. A major factor is the Transfermarkt community, whose members discuss and evaluate player market values in detail. In general, the Transfermarkt market values are not to be equated with transfer fees.
The goal is not to predict a price but an expected value of a player in a free market. Both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant in determining market values. Examples of this are listed below. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (you can find the detailed market value definition here).
