Jorge Ruvalcaba joins Red Bull New York - Arrives in record deal from UNAM Pumas

Red Bull New York have signed Jorge Ruvalcaba from Liga MX giants UNAM Pumas in a deal worth $6.5 million (€5.5m) plus add-ons. The deal is the joint-most expensive in club history. Ruvalcaba has signed a contract until 2029/30 with an option for one additional season. The 24-year-old will be the club’s third Designated Player in 2026, but the Red Bulls have an option to buy the player down to a TAM contract in future seasons.

“We are very excited to welcome Jorge to our club,” Red Bull New York head of sport Julian de Guzman said in a club statement. “He is a dynamic, creative attacker that has shown great potential and a strong work ethic, and we are confident that he will contribute to our success both on and off the field.”

Red Bull New York head coach Michael Bradley was also excited about the new signing. “Jorge is a talented, young player that we are very excited to have join our club,” Bradley said. “We believe he will integrate well into our team, and his versatility and pace will give us additional options in the attacking third. We are looking forward to working with him as he looks to integrate and contribute to the success of the team.”

Ruvalcabe joins Red Bull New York – Was a fan favorite at Pumas

In Ruvalcabe, the Red Bulls have acquired one of the most exciting and dynamic players in Liga MX. Born in Rialto, California, Ruvalcabe scored five goals and three assists in 18 games across all competitions for Pumas. The winger is also a current national team player, and his dynamic play has made him a fan favorite with Pumas fans. The winger also spent time in Belgium, where he played on loan in the second division, the Challenger Pro League, for Standard de Liège 16 FC. But that deal was never made permanent, and Ruvalcabe burst onto the scene in Mexico instead.
