After the Premier League and LaLiga were updated last week, Transfermarkt has also updated the market values of 458 Ligue 1 players. And in lock step, Paris Saint-Germain midfielders Vitinha and João Neves have dethroned teammate Ousmane Dembélé as the most valuable players in the French first division. While Dembélé remains unchanged at €100 million, the two Portuguese midfielders saw their respective market values rise by €20m from €90m to €110m.
“It’s tough to separate the two Portuguese midfielders,” Transfermarkt Area Manager France, Ronan Caroff, said. “They have both been of such importance for PSG in the past season, and it has only been confirmed since the start of 25/26. Although his season has been interrupted by a hamstring injury, Neves has managed nine goals and two assists, which is incredible for a central midfielder. Sometimes it is easy to forget that he is only 21.” Vitinha, too, has been productive. “He is the metronome in PSG’s midfield,” Caroff said. “He already has eight assists this season and is willing to step up in the attack when needed. Both have strong momentum, and it makes sense to make them the most valuable players in the league.”
While Neves and Vitinha top the ranking, two PSG talents have made another significant step in their respective developments: Senny Mayula (+€15m to €40m) and Ibrahim Mbaye (+€10m to €25m). “Mayulu has moved beyond his super sub status from last season,” Caroff said. “He has moved from being a midfielder in Luis Enrique’s system to play as a striker, taking minutes from Gonçalo Ramos (-€5m). He could be a bit more dangerous in the attack, but even without scoring, he has made an impact. Entering the last 18 months of his contract, he will have to decide about his future soon.” When it comes to Mbaye, it is sometimes hard to believe that he is only 17. “He is now a full member of PSG’s rotation and has already doubled his minutes from last season,” Caroff said. “He is learning fast and will be an important player for Senegal at the upcoming AFCON.”
Strasbourg market values: Chelsea loanee on the rise – Barco and Panichelli on the up
Meanwhile, the most valuable player at BlueCo, and Chelsea partner club Strasbourg, is Emmanuel Emegha. The 22-year-old striker saw his market value increase €3m to €28m. “Although he has missed some time with injuries, he has been very efficient in front of goal when fit,” Caroff said. By the time of writing, he had scored seven goals in 11 games. “That form has earned him a call-up to the Dutch national team. The small rise shows that his regular form has continued and considers his future at Chelsea.” The striker is set to join Chelsea this upcoming summer.
Two other players with a potential future at Chelsea are Mamadou Sarr and Joaquín Panichelli. Sarr, in fact, was signed by Chelsea last summer and then loaned back to Strasbourg after he featured for the Blues at the Club World Cup. “He continued right where he left off,” Caroff said. “He is now the vice-captain at the team and has taken on leadership responsibilities. At times, he still makes mistakes in top games like against Lille or Crystal Palace.” Sarr saw his market value increase by €5m from €20m to €25m. Also up to €25m, but from €12m, is Panichelli. “It is the fourth biggest update behind the PSG trio of Neves, Vitinha, and Mayulu,” Caroff said. “After scoring 21 goals in 44 games on loan for Alavés last season, he has made another big step forward this season.” Not surprisingly, Panichelli is already linked with a move to Chelsea.
Another player linked with a move away is the new arrival, Valentín Barco. “Signed for just €10m from Brighton, he has been Strasbourg’s most used player,” Caroff said. “Indeed, he is a key piece in Liam Rosenior’s midfield. Now a member of Argentina’s national team, he has been linked with a move away.” Although Chelsea are certainly watching the progress of the young Argentine, it is actually another European top club that seems to be the most interested. “Rumors have been linking him with a move to Bayern Munich,” Caroff said. Barco saw its market value improve by €10m to €25m.
Ligue 1 market values: Bouaddi hype over? Ethan Mbappé and Rennes defenders impress
Another player with a market value increase is Lille’s Ayyoub Bouaddi. “The Bouaddi hype seemed to die down a bit towards the end of last season,” Caroff said about the 18-year-old midfielder. “But now he is in great form and always starts. His partnership with Benjamin André (-€1m to €4m) and Hákon Arnar Haraldsson (+€4m to €22m) has been excellent. As a result, transfer rumours have once again picked up, but the Dogues have renewed his contract until 2029, which might lead to an increased bidding war for his services.” As a result, Bouaddi saw his market value increase by €10m from €30m to €40m.
Also, on the up is one of Bouaddi’s teammates, who carries a famous last name: Ethan Mbappé. While Ethan’s brother Kylian Mbappé saw his market value increase to €200m as part of the LaLiga market value update on Friday, the Lille midfielder saw his market value rise by €4m to €9m. “While he still struggles with injuries at times, his progress has been steady since joining Lille in the summer of 2024,” Caroff said. “You can see that head coach Bruno Génésio gives him more responsibilities and, as a result, his productivity has increased. Still under contract until the end of the 2026/27 season, he has a great setup to continue his development.”
Two more players to watch are Stade Rennes defenders, Jérémy Jacquet and Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal. “Stade Rennes have completely turned around their season after a disappointing season,” Caroff said. “Jacquet didn’t miss a single minute before being sent off against PSG this season. He has fully established himself in the team since his loan spell in Ligue 2 a year ago. With a new contract in his pocket, Stade know that they can ask for a significant transfer fee from the likes of Liverpool. With that in mind, it makes sense for him to become the most valuable player playing in Rennes.” Jacquet saw his market value rise by €8m from €12m to €20m. His teammate Ait Boudlal, in the meantime, is up by 566.7% from €1.5m to €10m. “Despite being sent off earlier this season, his coach never lost trust in him,” Caroff said. “A regular starter ahead of Anthony Rouault (-€1m to €9m), Ait Boudlal will represent Morocco at the AFCON, despite being just 19.”
How Transfermarkt market values work
The Transfermarkt market values are calculated, taking into account various pricing models. A major factor is the Transfermarkt community, whose members discuss and evaluate player market values in detail. In general, the Transfermarkt market values are not to be equated with transfer fees.
The goal is not to predict a price but an expected value of a player in a free market. Both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant in determining market values. Examples of this are listed below. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (you can find the detailed market value definition here).
