The transfer window closed on Monday night for the majority of top leagues, after another hectic deadline day. Clubs spent a record figure on deadline day with €757 million invested in new signings and that took spending past the €10 billion threshold across the window. A new record was set for spending across one transfer window (currently €10.32b) but the window remains open for several leagues. Süper Lig and the Saudi Pro League clubs can still acquire new players and that remains two top destinations for unwanted players.

Liverpool were the biggest spenders in the window with €482 million spent on new arrivals with the three most expensive players this summer all joining Arne Slot’s men - Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike. Meanwhile, Chelsea brought in the most income with an impressive €332m recouped from players leaving Stamford Bridge. But which club had the highest net spend when factoring in expenditure on players against income from departures? Using Transfermarkt figures, we’ve provided the answers.

The clubs with the highest net spends in summer transfer window 2025/26

Although the figures could still adjust slightly due to some windows remaining open, Arsenal currently have the highest net spend this summer at €283.2m - accurate as of September 3rd. Mikel Arteta’s men spent €293.5m on new signings, but they only recouped €10.3m for players departing. Arsenal have struggled to sell players for significant fees across the last decade and that remained problematic this summer.

As the graphic above illustrates, Liverpool ranks second with a net spend of €263.4m. Although Arne Slot’s men were the biggest spenders at €482m, they also brought in €219.5m in sales with Luis Diaz’s move to Bayern Munich their highest sale at €70m. Two more Premier League clubs feature in the top five in Manchester United (€176.5m) and Tottenham Hotspur (€169.1m). Real Madrid rank fifth at €165.5m.
