REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives (DPR) Sufmi Dasco Ahmad said that President Prabowo Subianto invited a number of former Indonesian Presidents to discuss the geopolitical situation that has occurred lately. The meeting will take place at the State Palace on Tuesday (3/3/2026) evening.
According to him, Prabowo wants to listen to the input and advice of previous presidents to plan for mitigation in the future. Even so, he has not yet confirmed the figures that will be present.
“We both know at the moment this is happening, which is likely to also have an impact for our country,” Dasco said at the parliament complex in Jakarta on Tuesday.
In addition, he also said that President Prabowo wanted to convey the latest developments to previous presidents, after his visit abroad some time ago.
“The invitation is certainly about silaturahmi, especially in this month of Ramadan,” he said.
Earlier, President Prabowo Subianto was reported to have invited the former president to attend a meeting scheduled to be held at Istana Merdeka in Jakarta on Tuesday evening.
Indonesia's 7th President Joko Widodo was confirmed to attend the meeting. It was delivered by Jokowi's aide Police Commissioner Sharif Muhammad Fitriansyah.
“Yes well (present), (later in the evening at) 19.30 (WIB),” Sharif said in a brief message to reporters on Tuesday afternoon.
