The Champions League has finally returned with the league phase getting underway - and Europe’s biggest clubs are once again preparing to battle on some of the continent’s grandest stages. From iconic cathedrals of football that have hosted generations of legends, to modern arenas designed to dazzle with their scale and spectacle, the stadiums themselves are part of what makes the competition so special.

Capacity has long been a symbol of prestige and power in European football. With this in mind, Transfermarkt has ranked every stadium set to host Champions League fixtures in 2025/26 by size, offering a snapshot of where the drama will unfold and which grounds will welcome the largest - but not necessarily loudest - crowds under the floodlights, as well as which clubs will be trying to upset the odds with a small following behind them.

The biggest Champions League stadiums

Leading the way as the biggest arena in action in this season's Champions League will be the iconic, recently-renovated Santiago Bernabéu. The home of Real Madrid has a current capacity of 83,186 and 'Madridstas' will be hoping the breathtaking stadium can host some more magic moments this campaign. In second place is Borussia Dortmund's Signal Iduna Park. The Stadium, famous for it's 'yellow wall', has a capacity of 81,365. Third goes to the historic San Siro, which will only see Inter Milan host games there in this term's Champions League with AC Milan not qualified - that stadium has a capacity of 75,923.

Bayern Munich's Allianz Arena takes fourth with a capacity of 75,000, whilst Atlético Madrid's Metropolitano stadium is fifth with a potential to host 70,460 supporters. Benfica's Estádio da Luz (68,100) takes sixth position, with Marseille's Vélodrome (67,394) in seventh. Three Premier League teams then complete the top 10, with the recently-built Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (62,850) in eighth, Liverpool's iconic Anfield (61,276) in ninth and Arsenal's Emirates Stadium (60,704) in tenth.

The smallest Champions League stadiums

At the other end of the scale, let's take a look at the smallest stadiums in this season's edition of the Champions League, with four grounds having a capacity of less than 10,000. The smallest of which is Qarabag's Azersun Arena, which has a capacity of just 5,800. That's followed by Bodø/Glimt's Aspmyra Stadion (8,500). In third place is Pafos FC's Stelios Kyriakidis Stadio (9,394), with Union Saint-Gilloise's Stade Joseph Mariën (9,512) the fourth smallest stadium in the competition this term. Three top-five league team's grounds also feature in the top 10 - Monaco's Stade Louis-II (18,525), Villarreal's La Cerámica (23,500) and Atalanta's Gewiss Stadium (24,950).
