Alexander Isak has broken his silence on his current situation at Newcastle United amid Liverpool’s pursuit of the Swedish international. Isak’s future has developed into the biggest protracted saga of the transfer window with the 25-year-old refusing to play for the Magpies due to his desire to join Liverpool.
Liverpool’s opening offer for Isak was rejected by Newcastle chiefs with their asking price understood to be in excess of €150 million.

Subsequently, Isak has trained alone away from his teammates and wasn’t involved in the North East club’s opening Premier League fixture against Aston Villa on Saturday. Newcastle boss Eddie Howe admitted post-match that he ideally wanted the situation resolved as quickly as possible but it’s clear that Isak is determined to leave after releasing a statement,

Alexander Isak releases statement on Newcastle future

On Tuesday night, Isak was voted into the PFA Team of the Season for the 2024/25 campaign after netting 23 Premier League goals. And within minutes of being recognition, Isak released a strongly worded statement, indicating his desire to leave Newcastle this summer. It read: “ When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can't continue,” said Isak. I'm proud to be recognised by my fellow professionals with a place in the PFA Premier League Team of the Season for 2024/25. First and foremost I want to thank my teammates and everyone at Newcastle United who has supported me along the way."

Isak continued: “I'm not at the ceremony tonight. With everything going on, it didn't feel right to be there. I've kept quiet for a long time while others have spoken. That silence has allowed people to push their own version of events, even though they know it doesn't reflect what was really said and agreed behind closed doors. The reality is that promises were made and the club has known my position for a long time. To now act as if these issues are only emerging is misleading. When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can't continue. That's where things are for me right now – and why change is in the best interests of everyone, not just myself.”
