Despite the Premier League being the richest league in the world, and what many consider as the best league in the world, it has also still found the space to be a breeding ground for some of the greatest young talent in world football. The English top-flight seemingly has it all. From teenage sensations, to the very best player in their prime, to the older heads using their experience to guide their teams to glory.



It is also the most valuable league in world football, boasting a total market value of €12.55 billion - some way ahead of the next most valuable league in LaLiga with a total market value of €5.41b. But who are the most valuable Premier League players from the year that they were born? Here at Transfermarkt, we have compiled a list of the most valuable players from each year they were born from 1990 to 2009 (yes 2009) and the results make for some very interesting reading.



The most valuable Premier League players ranked on the year they were born


We’ll begin with the golden oldies. Taking the most valuable player born in 1990, who is Brighton’s Danny Welbeck, aged 35 and valued at €4 million. The Englishman veteran has featured 18 seasons in the Premier League and is on course for his best ever scoring season this term. In 1991, it’s Liverpool centre-half Virgil van Dijk, valued at €18m and 34 years old. The most valuable player born in 1992 is the 'Egyptian King' Mohamed Salah with a market value of €30m. The most valuable player born in 1993 goes to Manchester United defender Harry Maguire at just €10m.



Born in the year of 1994, it goes to another Red Devils star in midfielder Bruno Fernandes - the Portuguese international remains a key player and still has a market value of €40m. In 1995, it’s the first goalkeeper on the list in Arsenal shot-stopper David Raya, who retains a market value of €35m - making him the joint fourth most valuable keeper in the world. We're now getting towards the players in the primes of their career. Born in 1996, Man City’s Rodri takes the most valuable player accolade with a value of €75m at 29 years of age.



In 1997, it’s Arsenal's fierce defender Gabriel, valued at €75m at 28 years old. In 1998 it’s Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister with a market value of €85m. The 1999 winner goes to injured striker Alexander Isak, who is the first player on the list to exceed €100m in market value - he's currently worth €120m, which is the same as Declan Rice who is born in the same year, but the Swede is younger. The most valuable player born in 2000, and in fact the most valuable player in the league and the joint most valuable player in the world while we're at it, is Man City goal-machine Erling Haaland, with a market value of €200m



Haaland is followed in 2001 by Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka, who boasts a market value of €130m. Born in 2002, the most valuable player is Chelsea playmaker Cole Palmer, valued at €200m. The most valuable player born in 2003 is Liverpool's German attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz, who has a market value of €110m. Next up, born in 2004 is Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton with a market value of €60m at 21 years of age. The most valuable player born in 2005 goes to Leny Yoro - the Man United defender is currently worth €55m.



In 2006, it’s Arsenal's Myles Lewis-Skelly with a market value of €40m for the 19 year old. Getting to the real youngsters now, and the most valuable asset born in 2007 goes to Chelsea's 18-year-old wonderkid Estêvão, with a current market value of €80m. The most valuable player born in 2008 is Liverpool's teenage sensation Rio Ngumoha, who has burst on to the scene for the Reds this season and already has a market value of €15m at 17 years of age. Finally, the most valuable player born in 2009 is Arsenal’s youthful star Max Dowman who became the youngest ever Champions League player this season aged 15. He’s worth €20m already at 16 years of age.
