Victor Osimhen scores 50th Galatasaray goal - Fastest players to hit milestone

Victor Osimhen is idolised by Galatasaray supporters and his hero status has been strengthened after scoring his 50th goal for the Turkish giants. Tens of thousands of passionate Galatasaray fans descended onto the Istanbul streets when Osimhen returned in the summer to join permanently. The Nigeria international enjoyed a hugely successful loan spell from Napoli as he fired Gala to the Süper Lig title last season.

Osimhen fired 37 goals in 41 games during his debut season at Gala and he’s now netted 13 goals this term to reach the 50 milestone. The 27-year-old didn't score in the 1-1 draw against Atlético Madrid on Wednesday in the Champions League with Galatasaray positioned to qualify for the knockout stages.

But he didn't have to wait long to reach the half-century, achieving the feat at the very next opportunity in the 3-1 win against Fatih Karagümrük, notching his team's third of the day after Gabriel Sara's double put them in front. It took Osimhen 59 games to reach the milestone but where does that rank him amongst Galatasaray players this century?

Fastest players to score 50 Galatasaray goals

Using Transfermarkt’s unparalleled database, analysing Galatasaray players since 2000, Osimhen has reached the 50 goal milestone in the fewest games. The Fatih Karagümrük clash was the Nigerian’s 59th for Gala and that’s 10 games fewer than second placed Mauro Icardi.

The Argentinian is currently the club captain and he required 2022 games to score 50 goals after arriving in 2022. Bafétimbi Gomis completes the top three after reaching the milestone in 74 games following the Frenchman joining the club from Swansea in 2017.
